FAQ

Is it possible to participate in this without having Internet access on the mobile phone ?

Yes, you can use Commute Greener without any mobile phone. In order to do so, once you’ve created your baseline, you may connect at home or at work, and Start and Stop your journey right from your usual browser (IE or Firefox). It will remain the same for your CO2 rejection calculations.

Do I have to connect on the Website in order to create my Baseline ?

Yes, you can’t create your first Baseline directly on your mobile phone. You have to login with you credentials, and start your Baseline journeys on the Website (by adding your commute locations and modes of transport).

Does Commute Greener work with the global positionning system ?

Yes, Commute Greener! can use GPS of IPhone to track your journeys. For the other mobile phones, it is based on your regular commuting pattern as defined in the Baseline.

Do I need to connect using my mobile phone, in order to Start/Stop a travel ?

You can also use your “normal” browser on your PC or Mac, to Commute Greener! Simply start and stop your journey from the Tracker (before or after your travel), and it will be added to your log of commute journeys.

When I try to edit a location, it is duplicated. Is it normal ?

At the moment you cannot edit a location. The only possible action is to copy a location and change it. This is due to the fact that locations may have been used in previous journeys and therefore cannot be changed afterwards. This is a simplification made by design for the first version. If you click on the black button on the right you will see the “copy” function. The same is called when you just click on the name of a location. For future version it should be possible to edit locations.

Which browsers are recommended ?

In order to browse Commute Greener!, we recommend that you use Internet Explorer 8, Mozilla Firefox 3.5+ or Safari.

How can I add alternative ways of commuting?

Choose “Add Transportation” from the left-hand menu. Select “Add new” from the drop down list of commuting options. Name your way of commuting, such as an electric car and enter the CO2 emissions.

It seems that there is, sometimes, too short distances provided by Google maps (bird distance) ?

We identified this issue (sometimes the web fail to calculate the route with the desired detail) and are currently working on it. This issue has high attention and shall be solved soon.

How do I add a journey if I missed to enter it?

You can only add/adjust/delete journeys within the Current Week. If you missed something in a week, dont be sad, stay positive and improve performance for the next week!

CO2 emissions for carpooling, how can they be calculated?

There are details of the CO2 emission values within the application and as a user it is possible to alter the values according to your knowledge. If you have a car you may want to set very specific CO2 emission values based on fuels or other variables. As a rough guidance it is possible to divide the pre-set value by the number of passengers.
