The Facebook connection does not work, what can I do?

Sometimes, likely in a corporate network or during set-up, the connection between Facebook and Commute Greener fails. Please, try again after emptying your cache. You may have to delete the Facebook application (http://apps.facebook.com/commutegreener) and connect to it again.

Error message when Sign up or Login with Facebook

The Facebook connect feature, i.e. “Sign up with Facebook” or Login with Facebook”, are supported by the web browsers Firefox and Internet Explorer 9. We will soon roll out a new Commute Greener web release also supporting earlier version of Internet Explorer.
Usage

When I try to edit a location, it gets duplicated. Is it normal ?

At the moment you cannot edit a location. The only possible action is to copy a location and change it. This is due to the fact that locations may have been used in previous journeys and therefore could disrupt history by being edited. If you click on the black button on the right you will see the “copy” function. The same is called when you just click on the name of a location. You are welcome to contribute with enhancements either as suggestions or into open innovation initiatives.

Do I have to connect on the Website in order to create my Baseline ?

No, if you use an iPhone, you can create your first Baseline directly on your mobile phone. You have to login with your credentials, and then start the Baseline Wizard. If you don’t have an iPhone or an Android, you will have to set your Baseline journeys on the Website, using the same wizard and adding the type of transports that you use.

CO2 emissions for carpooling, how can they be calculated?

When you add a vehicle, you’ll be able to choose the number of seats. When you start a journey, it’s also possible to state that you are carpooling, by choosing the number of passengers. There are also details of the CO2 emission values within the application and as a user it’s possible to alter the values according to your knowledge. If you have a car you may want to set very specific CO2 emission values based on fuels or other variables.

How can I add alternative ways of commuting?

Choose “Add Transportation” from the left-hand menu. Select “Add new” from the drop down list of commuting options. Name your way of commuting, such as an electric car and enter the CO2 emissions.

How do I use the Baseline Wizard if I work at two locations?

Assume that Peter works at the Office on Mondays to Wednesdays and in the Factory Lab on Thursdays to Fridays. When you use the Baseline for the first time, it’s possible to register the way to the Office for the first three days. Then there are two options:
a) Add the Thursday and Friday journeys into the Baseline by clicking ‘Add Journey’ (in the Performance section).
b) Click ‘Baseline Wizard’ (in the left hand-side menu of the Performance section) and click ‘Wizard’ (do not “empty” the wizard) in order to go through the wizard and add the remaining journeys.

Is it possible to participate in this without having Internet access on the mobile phone?

Yes, you can use Commute Greener through your desktop instead. In order to do so, you’ll have to first create your baseline and then you can Start/Stop your journeys right from your usual browser (IE or Firefox) as well as edit your weekly journeys.

Does Commute Greener work with the global positionning system ?

Yes, Commute Greener uses the GPS through your iPhone or Android to track your journeys. For any other mobile devices, it will be based on your regular commuting pattern as defined in the Baseline.

Which browsers are recommended ?

In order to use the Commute Greener app, we recommend that you use Internet Explorer 8+, Mozilla Firefox 3.6+.
